I'd say buy the cookbook and just adjust the recipes to fit your needs. You can always cut recipes down to fit one person or make it as is for leftovers. As has already been stated....leftovers can be a great thing, especially as frozen dinners.

I've been cooking for one for over 20 years. I don't mind leftovers, but if I have too much to eat before it goes bad, I just freeze my meals into single size portions. I also will often cut recipes in half or in fourths when making something.

I think go for it - the leftovers make a great frozen dinner for those lazy days or when you just don't have time. I love cookbooks and adjust recipes to suit my time etc all the time. Give yourself license to be adventurous!
