I would weigh every day, but only document weekly weights. I can fluctuate within a 5lb range with fluid. So, I don't freak out too much, and I look at other things....

How do I feel? Are my clothes looser? Can I ambulate easier? How is my mood?

Weighing every day for me is good, and sometimes if I need the reminder I put the scale right at the entry to the kitchen...then if I want a snack I step on the scale first and a lot of time I'll drink a cup of water and turn around and walk out of the kitchen!

You definitely shouldn't be weighing in daily. I know it's tempting - I struggle to stay off the scale, too - but your weight does fluctuate and you will get a much better, more accurate measurement of weight loss if you weigh in weekly, preferably at the same time of the day each week.

Hi there,

Yesterday, I hit my first weigh loss mini goal. Yay!
Today, however, I weighed in at 1.5 pounds over that--which put me back over my mini goal. I know that water weight varies and that other things also account for weight fluctuations, but regarding my goal and my mini celebration of my having met it, what would you say?

Here are some answers I anticipate:
1) Don't weigh in so often. If you weigh in once a week, then you'll not be measuring these fluctuations so much.
2) Count that low weight and get back to it! You can have your mini celebration and count yourself as having reached that mini goal.
3) Nope. Wait until you've hit that goal weight for a few consecutive days before counting it. What you got that one time was a fluke.

So what do you say?
Not that a pound and a half really matters, given the amount I'm trying to lose, finally, but I'm curious to know how others have handled this.
