You might be low in magnesium. I take 1, 400MG tablet of magnesium every night and it puts me to sleep within 2 hours of taking it. Magnesium is a natural tranquilizer. You might be nerveous about something that prevents you from falling asleep or it is known that most sleep deprived people don't snack on fruits and vegetables. Try adding lima beans, kidney beans, broccoli, spinach and nuts, including almonds, cashews and hazel nuts and brazil nuts to your diet. They all have magnesium! Talk to your doctor about supplements.

You also might be low in vitamin D
Your doctor can measure your Vitamin D levels and magnesium levels, or he might even suggest a sleep study to insure you do not have sleep apnea, but I personally would get my levels checked first.

Sunshine drives your body to produce melatonin, which is needed for sleep. Get some sunshine! About 10 minutes daily.

Snoring can disrupt sleep. Do you snore?

Congrats on your weight loss success. I would recommend talking to your doctor. There are prescription sleep aids and non-prescription ones that you could discuss. I've taken a prescription for years because I just don't sleep well and never have. It makes a big difference when you get enough rest.

You've made fantastic progress ! congratulations on achieving so much so far !!

Are you under a lot of stress at home, work, relationship, family, etc... ? stress can reek havoc with a person's sleep. If you're under stress, then you need to find ways to decrease that stress. I'm a firm believer that stress is a neglected aspect of weight gain. If a person could reduce their stress, they'd automatically reduce their waistline.

Are you a mom ? I have yet to meet a parent that wasn't chronically sleep deprived. it's tough for busy parents to get a decent night's sleep.

I know that when I have trouble trying to get to sleep, I read a book or sip a cup of tea. You may find that a nice herbal tea like chamomile or peppermint helps you to sleep. Of course, I was looking at your Spark Page, not to be nosy, are you experiencing hot flashes because of menopause symptoms ? I just started seeing peri menopausal symptoms myself i.e. the occasional power surge at night. And yes, those have kept me up.

I found what helped with the menopause symptoms is regular exercise. Try getting some light cardiovascular exercise like a daily walk. that might help.

My DH has trouble falling asleep. He has to workout to make himself exhausted and then wait until his eyelids start drooping before he even thinks about getting near the bed.

If you're stressed, try writing in a journal just to get it out. Good luck.

You have done so well and have lost so much weight! Excellent.
When you are tired you are physically run down..and your emotions can easily seem negative. Get some rest. You will feel happier when you wake up..and can get yourself back on track.

Try getting mellatonin to help you sleep. Also increase your exercise.

Take care of yourself. You are worth it! emoticon

Can't sleep and so tire and I seem to eat more and have less motivation to do anything about it.
