Natali -

Have you ever though of trying an alternative diet? There is a great system that my wife and I used called the Weigh Down workshop. Instead of dieting, you eat when you are hungry and quit when you are full. Sounds simple, but it works.

Go to and check it out.

Welcome Natali:

I'm so glad to see that you have started a Star thread for yourself.

Dieting might be the problem. Your body hates dieting and after awhile, it rebels and sends you to the refrigerator. It is best to combine a healthy eating program with an exercise program. The latest guidelines on what healthy eating is came out last Thursday - see The National Academies Institute of Medicine post under Nutrition and Weight Loss Support. If you combine cardio, weight training, and an eating plan with an appropriate number of calories and an appropriate balance of carbohydrates, lean proteins, and healthy fats, you will become lean. Your carbohydrate selections need to be non-processed or only minimally processed. Your total calories need to be spread across 5 or 6 mini-meals per day. The amount of calories you need should be high enough to support your exercise and tell your body that you are not starving but slightly low enough to be a little less than what you burn each day. Many guidelines say to aim for a 1 to 2 pound fat loss per week. People with plenty of fat to lose can pretty easily do this rate of loss but those with only a few pounds of fat to lose often do better losing only fractions of a pound per week. Consistency and patience are key. Give yourself time to lean out and enjoy the process along the way. One good way to enjoy the process is to join us in the Exercise Streak Challenge or to join or start a nutrition Streak Challenge.

Good Luck With Your Goals!
