Hang in there. I started at 261 and then lost 90lbs at a rate of about 1 pound a week - many times in there with a plateau. It's a lifestyle and not a number. What finally helped me was just to realize the scale didn't matter. As long as I was eating within my ranges, working out, drinking my water in the end I knew the scale would not win.

Good luck!

Add some exercise...a new class at the gym, a swim, walking during your lunch break, etc. Whatever it is, don't give up!

seems like it takes forever for the scale to move, just keep on doing the Spark and eventually the scale does move. I get discouraged but keep at it. I have even s=added more exercise ! emoticon

It can be REALLY hard to break through the idea that the scale is the only sign of progress.

IT ISN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your clothes fitting better is a sign you're moving in the right direction! Remember that a lb of fat and a lb of muscle still weigh the same - but that muscle takes up less room. So what may be happening is that you are gaining muscle as you loose the fat.

Are you taking your measurements on a monthly basis? If you aren't, I suggest you start. This is one of the best indicators of what progress you are making.

Try doing what my hubby had me do for a while - don't weigh yourself for a month. Continue every other habit that you have been, and focus on the OTHER things that are changing - like your clothes fitting better. These NSVs (non scale victories) are a real indicator of how your body is changing.

Keep up the great work!! emoticon

While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there may be weeks you don't lose. There may even be weeks when you gain ! And that doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. How long have you been trying to lose ? remember, this isn't the Biggest Loser, those types of weekly dramatic losses are just not typical. It really could take 6-8 weeks of healthy eating and regular exercise before a person sees a change in the scale. And that's perfectly normal.

If your clothes feel looser, that IS a sign you're making a difference. Can you walk or run a mile faster today than you could a month ago ? Can you carry more bags of groceries ? Can you walk up stairs without getting winded ? Can you do more push ups today than you could a month ago ? Are you sleeping better ?

There are things that are happening to your body that can't be measured by a scale. Do you know that if your blood pressure has dropped in the last month, your doctor would be thrilled even if the scale didn't move. Lowering your blood pressure is a huge health benefit.

So, don't assume something must be wrong because the scale isn't moving as fast as you'd like it. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time.

Patience, it's a virtue.

I have read everything you can possibly I think about losing weight, and I know you shouldn't be mad when the scale will not move. BUT I am at my breaking point. Yes my clothes do feel looser but I am still frustrated! What can I do to make myself feel better?
