WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Welcome to Spark. You have taken an important step on your journey by joining! I've been a member a little over 3 years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained a lot of the pounds back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going! Explore the site, make your Sparkpage if you haven’t, join teams, and make friends. Welcome! Good for you getting started. Take it baby steps every day to learn life long healthy behaviors to make yourself strong and healthy!
Move a little every day and continue to move more each day. Log everything you eat and drink and I mean EVERYTHING. You will soon see your patterns and where you can make healthy changes without thinking too much about it.
It's an up and down road but a road worth taking. You will find a lot of support here. Best of luck to you

Hello, I am a 40 something single career girl, and thought I would give Sparkpeople a chance. I've tried so many diet plans, and I have usually lose motivation after a few months.I'm hoping that this site is different! I've been overweight all of my life, and I don't hate myself or feel horrible for being fat. I don't buy into all of the crap that the media/diet industry puts out there about having to be thin to be happy. I just want to be healthy - anyone else feel the same way?
