Thanks Bearclaw6, SP coach Tanya, Dragonchilde, and Chocolatier T for responding. I did look at the pages you linked.

Dragonchilde, That link you sent me was helpful. My boyfriend just writes down his glucose in a book, but it might be easier if he use his android cell phone instead. I think it would be easier for his doctor to look over a printed report than scribbling in a notebook. If you know (or anyone knows) where that page instructing how to set this up, please send me the link.

Bearclaw, thank you for the advice of keeping track of fiber on the meal planner and subtracting the fiber from the net carbs. Net carbs are the ones he needs to moderately eat?

Thank you for sending the list of servings sizes. His doctor did give him a list like this one, but figuring out a serving size is still a struggle. One that recently stumped me is do I measure 15 grams of noodles on a food scale before or after its cooked? This is going to be hard one for my boyfriend because he usually eats a whole plate full right now.

The manual used in the nutrition class is called "Diabetes Care Centers Workbook" published by Carondelet Health Network. ( The inside cover states this course "is approved by the American Diabetes Association. We are certified by the Association to teach you how to manage your diabetes". Copyright 2008.

My boyfriend was told to limit his carbohydrates to 45 grams a day, not including vegetables. Please submit my request to the staff that handles meal planning that we would appreciate a meal planner that diabetics could use today. I have a hard time believing Arizona has the latest cutting edge method and that it would help more people than just us.

You can definitely change your tracker, but the low-carb diet plan is not available here. You can also add the Fiber tracker so you can subract those from your total carbs to get a better understanding of Net Carbs (the carbs that will actually affect blood glucose and insulin levels).

If you are in the diabetes plan you are not able to adjust anything besides fat grams at this time. You can make adjustments in the regular program just remember that to meet your recommended nutrient needs it is best to get at least 120 grams of carbohydrates from sources such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy within the range recommended by your meal plan from your health care team. You can't change the planner, cause those are developed for general diets, but you can change your tracker.

If that is what you are wanting to do, on teh Tracking page, one of the large buttons near the bottom right is "change my nutrition goals" and it will let you set your carbs to the level you desire.

Why can't I change the meal planner to lower the carbohydrates per day?

This would help so much that your site could generate a meal planner that reduces carbohydrates. My boyfriend is a diabetic and I have Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). His doctor sent him to a three day seminar just this year on nutrition about counting carbohydrates for diabetics. He is not overweight, so he is allowed 45 grams of carbohydrates a day (from breads & grains not including vegetables). Other people in his class were overweight and were limited to 30 grams of carbohydrates a day. My doctor has told me to limit my total carbohydrates to 100 grams per day. Why is this not an option on your site? If I change my goal to lower carbohydrates, the meal planner doesn't follow my change.
