Sorry the hear that about your mom. I will keep you in my prayers. May God bless you and your family throughout all the years to come. My dad has told me he will always be there in spirit whenever I need him and I will know what decision to make when the time comes.

Thank you! We are taking one day at a time and so thankful for all the 39 wonderful years I have had to share with my dad. He is 71 and a true fighter!

I lost my mother to cancer this last December. She passed the day after Christmas. We found out in November that she had stage 4 uterine cancer that had spread to her liver and intestines. It is hard to lose a parent. She never made it home for us to sit by her side. We just spent as much time at the hospitals as we could it was difficult because she was in CCU and we were limited to the amount of time we could spend with her. This year is proving to be tough her Birthday was this past Monday. It is truly a hard thing to go through losing a parent My mom would have been 58 on her birthday.

I still have my parents, but last year my best friend of 20 years lost her mother to cancer. When hospice was called in, my friend flew home from Denver and I flew in from DC just to help the family with the day to day stuff while they sat and waited. It's a very difficult process, but you are surrounded by your family who loves you and who know exactly what you are going through. Share some uplifting stories and happy memories. Celebrate his life. My prayers are with you and your family.

I am having a tough time right now on the fact that my dad is at the end stages of pulmonary fibrosis due to all those years as a firefighter long time ago. Hospice has been called in to help during this time. I can not imagine loosing a parent at any age. I come from a very close knit family. My mom is amazing especially through all of this. She has her moments. We are making her smile and laugh as much as we can and giving her hugs all the time. We tell each other we are all in this together. We spend nights at the house to help mom with dad. He can not get up out of the bed without assistance. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. I have one brother in the Air Force who has been coming home on the weekends to help. My younger sister came in from out of state to surprise our dad with his new granddaughter for fathers day who was only 2 wks old. I know when we take our first breath we will also take our last. It is just hard on the thought of not having him here. He is an awesome father and mentor. I am cherishing ever second I have left with him.
