Welcome to SP and remember it's not a diet, but a lifestyle.

I have the HG "300 Under 300" book - have bookmarked a few interesting recipes.......all I need to do is follow through (therein lies the rub, and my greatest obstacle).......

emoticon and best wishes!

Hello! I started SparkPeople after a suggestion from a family member. I have been unsuccessful with different diet plans for the past few years and wanted something different. I have been using the website for about a week now and LOVE it! Its easy to use and I love the "Map your route" feature. I never knew how far I walked just around my neighborhood!!

I'm truly hoping this plan that was set up for me works. I'm very unhappy with the way I look and the way my body image is making me feel. I'm miserable and its affecting my relationship. I don't been attractive or sexy or happy so I can't see how anyone else would see me as attractive or sexy. Its hard. As a teenager I was thin (but I think most of that was due to coming from a financially unstable family where we didn't have much food). When I reached my 20's and was living on my own, I ballooned up. I tried various diets and exercise plans and dropped some of the weight, but it would always come right back. But now that I'm almost 30, I am finding it harder and harder to find a plan that gives me any kind of results, let alone long term. I'll lose 5 pounds but then gain 10 pounds back! It's rough!

Hopefully this plan will be good for me. So far its easy to follow (though I feel hungry ALL the time) and easy to track and search for the foods that I'm eating. My one issue is that fruit is so high in calories!! I LOVE fruit and would eat it all the time, if I could. So I'm struggling with not being able to have my morning banana or my afternoon snack of an apple. Hopefully I'll find some balance soon.

A tip that I have for anyone on here that is having trouble planning meals would be to look into purchasing the Hungry Girl cookbook series. In this first week (which I always find hardest in any diet) the "300 under 300" book (which features 300 recipes under 300 calories) has really been a lifesaver for my meals. I even found a few recipes similar to my favorite "fat girl" meals that I love and blame for packing on many of my current pounds. The book has been worth it so far and I've already flagged and planned on meals I'll want to try next week!

Today is going to be the first big challenge of this new diet. We are going to the Air Show (with the Blue Angels and all the fighter jets and stunt planes) and I'm almost certain that most of the food will be deep fried and fattening and delicious. While I'm hopeful that I will be able to make the right food choices, I am a picky eater so I'm concerned that I will be unable to find something that I can eat that isn't deep fried. Normally in situations like this, I would just pack myself some fruit in my purse and munch on that if the food options were undesirable, but, as per my previous comment, I'm struggling with fruit being so many calories! Haha! I guess in the end an apple will be less calories than a corndog though! :o)

Well, that is all for now. Thank you to whoever listened to me vent a little! I really am excited to try this new diet plan and I'm truly keeping my fingers crossed that this works well for me.
