I can't imagine doing this living with my folks. We used to live quite a ways away and whenever we'd visit for a few weeks, all bets were off. Now we live close again, and visiting there even for a few hours is usually huge temptation. Plus they really love baked goods and always ask me to bake stuff at their house. At least the cake is there and I don't take it home, but how often do you bake something and not have any? Annoying, but I am learning to manage.

I'm worried about this for when I go visit my family. We've changed our eating around so much and I hope that we don't backslide with all the celebrations going on for the week we are there. I know that his side of the family will be "treating us" to dinner out rather than home cooked meals.
I have the same problem. Living with my parents has led to a near inability to lose weight. My mom considers eating healthily to be having a vegetable with dinner. There is no portion control, and when I do try to rein it in I am ridiculed. For me it has become a issue of choosing myself over them. I deal with the ridicule and only eat a few meals at home and do my best to control portions.

when I lived with my parents, I bought my own food for breakfast and lunch, dinner, I offered to cook so I could tweak it to my specifications.

Probably no difference than living with children. You are in charge of your life, enjoy it and make it work. Your parents and/or children can NOT force you to eat poorly. But you can surely be a positive light in their eyes by doing the best you can for yourself, even if they won't join you. Keep the faith.

Anybody else find dieting difficult when living with parents? I find having to eat with them leads to me eating massive portions of carb-heavy meals. But not eating with them leads to moaning! D:
