Grab some of that LUCK today so a year from now we will celebrate all we have accomplished! Happy St. Patty's Day!
You should know that Sparks does not approve of doing a 'cleanse" at all, so just in case you get negative posts, you will know. I've done a cleanse a number of times and they work great for me. I use Konstyl Psyllium Husk that I get at Walmart for about $14. I use the Dieter's Tea or Smooth Move Tea, which is at Walmart or a Health Food Store.
Hi everyone. The best cleanse I've been on is a clean eating cleanse. I felt AMAZING and full of energy (except for day 2). My complexion improved, I didn't feel any bloating like I sometimes do, and yes, I've never been more "regular." My goal is to do this once in the Spring and once in the Fall. The good thing about this cleanse is that you get your full nutrients.
In a nutshell:
Week 1: Go Vegan this week and no caffeine! Each morning take psyllium husk with a 8 oz glass of water (directions on the container), one hour later, add a green smoothy for breakfast(water, fruit, and greens - also can add Super Green powder).
Week 2: Go Raw and again no caffeine. Keep doing what you did in Week 1 but add wheat grass juice in the afternoon.
Congrats on your health goals! I did this cleanse twice last year for the recommended 10 day minimum. I was contemplating it again this month and decided that I just really need to get myself together and begin to eat healthy foods at all times. That way I will detox any way, but much more slowly. I love the MC cleanse though! I felt so much better each time.
While I did this cleanse I also spent lots of time on the MC boards for support, I journalled every day, and I followed the plan exactly - which means no eating anything. The book really gives very good explanations about why everything is set up the way it is. (I think that info is on the boards too.) What the lemons do and why you can't use the juice in a bottle. Why the maple syrup should be Grade B, and the need for the cayenne. I appreciated all the information.Keeping the book on my table helped me stay focused, too. And the boards really helped me when I hit bad moments. And bad DAYS. It helps to know which days of the fast are the worst and how to break the fast so you don't un-do all the good you just did!
50 pounds in a year is very realistic, but be prepared to lose weight rapidly at first and much more slowly as you are nearing your goal.
Be careful using cleanses. The one you're talking about is commonly known as the Master Cleanse. If you want to know more about it, you might want to ask on the Diet & Nutrition board, because the Community Journals area isn't really meant for asking questions, just sharing your thoughts/progress and getting feedback. Honestly, though, I don't think you'll like the reception that most SP members will give the cleanse. It is unnecessary and potentially unsafe, particularly if you're active in something like dance.
Good luck in your weight loss efforts, have fun, and do your research! :)

Hi, Losing 50 lbs in a year is not an unrealistic goal. It amounts to about a little less than 1 lb a week, which is do-able and healthy. Good luck.
Hi, So I went a little overboard this weekend partying and visiting friends so I realized I needed to detox. I talked to a friend and he mentioned a cleanse with lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup. Yesterday was my first day and it went well. I didn't find myself very hungry until around midnight when my stomach started growling. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this and how their outcome was. I plan to do this for 5 days in order to lose a few pounds before my boyfriend comes home from overseas. Also, I have a goal to lose 50 lbs in a year and would like to know if this is realistic. I'm a dancer so I rehearse two days a week and I am attempting to do Crossfit and the paleo diet. Thanks.
