Yes too! I find that nooowww being 45 (ughh), my metabolism must be at 0 and moving sometimes makes me exhausted! The weight comes off slow, but comes back at the speed of light! My mantra: I cannot eat french toast and milkshakes!

I just have to totally revamp my way of thinking/behaving! I have found a website that really partners up well with this one: She actually recommends SparkPeople as one of the programs to commit to, like Weight Watchers, etc. The site costs money, but a little money a month for my journey is ok - I used to spend it on food! A good way to see if you like her (Kim Bensen) is to buy her book. I bought her book: Finally Thin! (used, cheap on Amazon). The book is GREAT, so I am trying her site.

YES!!!!! But at my computer last night and putting in my food, its not that hard because there is so much in system. I think this is going to work. I need to work on things for breakfast (not a huge fan of it) & lunch (that's when I start eating everything!) Going for my walk now, have a good day!

Is it just me or have you guys found that it is much more difficult to lose weight after turning 40???

Im another "40 friend" who just joined yesterday. I found looking around at all the people who have done it & how well all this works has helped me get up, go for a walk & plan a menu for the rest of the week.

Hi! Was gone for the weekend, sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, my first step was to get honest. My biggest challenge right now is to record EVERYTHING I eat. This weekend I had ice cream like a maniac (sneaking it behind my boyfriend's back)....So I threw out the entire 1/2 gallon. Felt good. When I see the points (I do Weight Watchers) I see how I am sabotaging my weight loss. That's my challenge....keeping these darn points the way I'm supposed to, by being honest about what I eat. How are you doing?

I am a 40 something too, with 70 pounds to loose. My first step was to be honest with what I was eating. What is your first step?

I have lost 15 pound since January 1, 2012, nothing to write home about, but using spark people has helped me with being accountable to myself and others.

Hi ~ Welcome to SparkPeople. I find that interacting with other Sparks is really the best way to stay motivated and on-track. Taking advantage of the educational aspects of SP is also key to weight loss goal success. Come back to the message boards and read blogs to find people that you feel like you would like to "friend" These folks will help you attain your goals.

I wouldn't do the gastric bypass. There are just too many issues that once you have the bypass you can't undo. Learning how to eat healthy and within your calorie range is a much better idea.

Know that through using SparkPeople to it's fullest potential will help you more successfully attain your goals. Come up with a BIG reward (like mine is a cruise) to help you stay focused and successful in maintaining your new healthy lifestyle. And look at this as a change in your lifestyle, not just another diet.

Hi, I'm 40-something, who is really interested in getting support from others, (and giving support too!), in this weight loss journey. I have tried every diet plan out there, and always gain the weight back, and a little more. I have finally hit bottom in that, the back pain I experience among other (yucky) side-effects of weighing 210 approx.on a 5'2" frame, is killing me. I can't sit for long, I can't roll over in bed, I can't walk for more than a block- without feeling incredible pain. I am forced to use medication that is not good for me in the long-run. Reaching bottom is actually kind of relieving, because I am dedicated this time out of sheer health desperation and I own I have a problem. I can't play with my 5-year old niece; I just sit on the couch watching her. I am ready. Never done a message/blog type thing ever. I am exposing myself instead of keeping my weight problem a secret, (except for everyone around me who sees it). I don't want to do a gastric bypass, although I am probably a candidate. Enough said! I look forward to meeting you all!
