Welcome! Happy to have you! This site is a great tool to help you. I am learning so much and it helps me stay on track and motivated. You might not want to hear this, but patience is KEY. You WILL get the results you want! They just won't come over night. I'm proud of you so far though!

Hi, AJHAMMAR, we're the exact same age! I need to lose like 30lbs.

I do Pilates and walking or dance DVDs for cardio.

welcome.......Some words of wisdom. find an exersice that you like so you will keep on doing it. track what you eat and you will be amazed. it's a life style change and not a diet. I am sure that you can do anything you set your mind too. Good luck in this and use all that sparks has to offer..........

Kind of new here. Not sure where to start. Where do newbies go on message boards?

Anyway, went in for a health assessment at a new local gym today. Wow, what an eye opener! But it could have been worse. And I'm so glad that I'm starting now rather than next year or 5 years from now! The printer didn't work so I wasn't able to take the results of the assessment home with me. But next Thursday I will be able to get the print out. I have a lot of work ahead of me!

So, I'm 39, turning 40 next month... Basically, I have the body of a 47 year old. With healthy nutrition and exercise, I can have the body of a 35 year old. That's pretty awesome... Anyway, I have 41% something body fat. Need to get it down to 25%. Good to know. That can be attained by doing cardio exercise. Also good to know. I guess my once a week yoga isn't cutting it, huh? I have average flexibility, but I can increase flexibility! Other areas I need improvement in as well.

I'm excited about next week already where we can talk about what kind of exercises are good for me. I think I'm a Type A personality, that is, I want results *now*! I'm not very patient.So we'll talk about exercises for Type A personalities next week.

I thought it was awesome I got to wear a real Polar heart monitor. I've never worn one before. This new gym is really awesome. Gotta love local gyms rather than gym chains...
