I have not yet been pregnant myself, but I've often heard my friends who were successful in not putting on too much weight (and taking it off after) say that they never thought they were eating for 2. Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks Ladies, I definately will follow a healthy eating and exercise plan with this pregnancy. I gained 55 lbs with my first and 65 with my second pregnancy. I'm determined not to go down that road again. I also decided to switch doctors. My previous doctor never really seemed concerned about my weight. I had two c-sections and the second was a really bad experience for me. I was in so much pain during the operation, I lost a lot of blood and had a very tough recovery. Days out the hospital I began to swell and ended up back in the hospital due to dangerously high blood pressure. I also had to have a blood transfusion and was stuck in the hospital for an additional 5 days away from my children. I blame all of this on my weight. I would've really like to lose a lot more before I had more children, but I'm determined to be healthier this time around. Thanks for the support.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS! You've got a lot going on. It may seem quite overwhelming to do it all but trust me you can do it and the good news is corset style dresses allow for a extra "breathing room" & it can always be altered if need be. Plus you really on start showing at 4 months so if you keep up with exercising & eating habits, you'll be okay!I agree with Zorbs13 on the eating & exercising. It can be difficult because being pregnant can be draining especially if you aren't in great shape at the start. Eating the right foods & staying in a healthy caloric range to meet the nutritional needs of you & the baby will help you stay slim longer. Have a talk with your doctor the next time you visit & ask him what kind of exercises you're cleared to do. I've known women who did light jogging & yoga almost through their entire pregnancy, but everyone is different. Like Zorbs13 said don't let being pregnant give you an excuse to eat anything & everything. With a little bit of determination & effort you can still look wonderful in your dress! Good Luck!

Keep exercising and eating as healthy as you can - do not use pregnancy as an excuse to be lazy for 9 months and eat for 2. That should help you keep your weight gain in the acceptable range.

The only moms I talk to regularly all exercised pretty much until the morning they went into labour - some gained 50+ pounds but because all of them have good exercise/eating habits, I don't know anyone who still has baby weight to lose 1 year PP.

I've been sparking for a week and a half now and I'm down 6 lbs so far. I've learned to eat healthier and have increased my physical activity. I was also preparing for my wedding in July. Now to our surprise, I found out that I'm pregnant with our third child. I'm happy but now I'm afraid I won't fit into my wedding dress, which is a corset back with boning. I'll probably be 5 months along at the time of my wedding. With my first pregnancy I gained 55lbs and 65 with the second. I plan on not gaining as much this time. I've visited the Babyfit website but I like Spark People better. Any advice?
