Thanks, FOOSERPAUL, for the link/article. I think I'm going to have to give it a try ... I absolutely love oats and oatmeal, and eggs & oatmeal is already my go-to breakfast (just as separate items).

Thanks for posting about this! I've been wanting to try oats and eggs together, but was wary because it sounds gross. I eat oatmeal on most mornings, so this could be a nice change.

FOOSERPAUL ~ that was a very good article. I tried it this morning and ate half and put the other half away for tomorrow. Wish I could eat the whole thing, as I would love the protein. I added some blueberries and it was very good. Much better consistency. Thanks so much.

Looks like this is a good description with pictures:

thanks to each of you for replying. I have been away for 2 weeks to help a sick relative. Home at last tonight and am happy to be here.

I didn't care for the dish the first time I fixed it. Tasted awful. So...I did this and love it. I first made an old fashioned stirred custard (less sugar than recipe) on the stove that served 4. Then I cooked rolled oats on the stove that served 4. Then I mixed them together and stored in the frig. In the mornings, I take 1/4 of it and reheat in the microwave. Yummy!

That sounds gross, but you may like what I do:

Make oatmeal as you normally would, but just as I starts to thicken crack an egg into the pan and break it up with a fork by stirring as it cooks! My dad always used to do that when I was a kid, and I still make it that way!

It would help to answer your question better if you told us why you didn't like the recipe. Flavor? Texture? Other?
I've had it, and really enjoyed it, but personally, I like it with more egg to oats ratio, finding the oats dry out the egg a bit. Also, shredded cheese, like cheddar, adds a lot to it for me. You could add just about anything to it, think how you normally make scrambled eggs or oats, and add the same things to this recipe. It's so versatile, if you play with it enough, I'm sure you'll find a combination that works for you.

This recipe has lots of rave ratings, but as much as I love eggs and love oats, I thought it was terrible. This is how I made it: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1/2 C oats and 2Tbsp milk. Mix and cook like a pancake or scrambled egg. Even though I ate only a 1/3 of it, I am still full, so I really would love to have this work for me.

I realize people add other things to it. Any suggestions???
