Yes although most of the meals they prepare are not diabetes friendly.

Yes I watch cooking shows, most have too many ingredients for me to make them and no they do not make me hungry.

Ahh yes, Chopped, that's a good one. I also just started (on youtube) watching Worst Cooks in America, thanks to a couple of posts in this thread. I'd completely forgotten about that show. I've seen a couple of them but not all of them, so I wanted to start from the beginning.

I love watch Diners drive ins and dives. The only problem with these shows is sometimes it puts me in the mood to cook.I already have all the meals planned out then "boom" I see something I would really like to try...You know what that means, there is another dish in the fridge that needs to be eaten.Darn

I used to watch "Good Eats" all the time, but more so for the quirky scientific background on food than for recipes

No I don't as I don't cook. I am very lucky to have a husband who loves to cook, can cook a large variety of foods from different countries. He also cooks with health in mind. He watches tons of cooking shows!

Not on a regular basis, but I enjoy them sometimes. I really enjoy Anthony Bourdain No Reservations which is more of a travelogue.

yes and no. I'll have them on in the background as I'm doing other things.

Hi I'm just finding my way around the site. I live in Chicago and watch cooking shows on the PBS channel Create! Most of the dishes are filled with unhealthy ingredients but I enjoy watching the techniques and have learned many things from them like how to carve a chicken properly or how to poach a food or prepare a food to look attractive when you plate it.

I watch most of the competition shows...Top Chef, Iron Chef, Chopped, Hell's Kitchen, Worst Cooks in America, etc. Don't watch many of the instructional or celebrity chef type shows. They don't make me hungry and I actually do feel like I've picked up some cooking techniques.

Watching these shows has also encouraged me to experiment with ingredients I probably wouldn't have before.

I like cooking shows, but don't watch a whole lot of them. However, I own all the seasons of Two Fat Ladies. LOVE them.

I like the 'different' types of cooking shows, like Kitchen Nightmares (not much of a Hell's Kitchen fan, it irritates me) and I love Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Love to watch the cooking shows but I feel the choices for the dishes they make are usually not of the healthy persuation!

Not now. We don't do tv in my house.
I used to watch cooking shows years ago. I enjoy cooking so I enjoyed the shows. A majority of the shows were not really focused on healthy foods though.

Although I knew some basics before, I basically learned to cook (and became quite good at it, if I may say so) by watching Food Network. I particularly loved Good Eats, but have learned a lot from different shows. (And had fun watching things like Iron Chef.)

But I noticed the same thing you did -- watching makes me hungry, and worse, makes me miss foods that I can't have very often now. It's much easier for me to keep them out of sight, out of mind, so I only rarely watch FN these days.

I watch the Food Network every so often - I enjoy and get a kick out of "the worst cook in america" with my 2 favorite chefs Bobby Flay & Ann Burrell. The show is so funny but I enjoy it. I also like to watch the cooking channel depending whats on. Sometimes watching cooking on t.v. makes me hungry HA HA

I watch Food Network from time to time but I find that many of the things are too complicated to make or are not really good for you and I can find enough things on my own that aren't good for me without watching TV.

I do from time to time. I live in Greece so all the cooking shows here focus on Mediterranean cuisine, both traditional and modern -- and everything is very healthy (though one would still need to watch portions). I get lots of ideas from these shows as they feature ingredients that are easy to get and inexpensive for the most part. We don't have a Food channel here but some of the regular channels have upwards of 6 food shows on every day, they are quite popular here.

The only ones I really do avoid are the pastry/confection ones. And once in a while I watch those too, but not when I'm feeling weak!

A few years ago I was hooked on the FOOD NETWORK.
I felt they would educate me on ways to make healthy food taste even better.
I loved watching the cooking shows but I had to stop....
they made me hungry and they would give me food cravings.

Do You watch them and What reaction do you have to them?
