Instead of going cold turkey, just "budget" the candy calories into your nutrition plan for the day.

I agree with the others that it is really bad for your teeth, but if you really feel you need something maybe try weaning yourself away from the candy with a low-cal granola bar.

How are you eating candy after you brush your teeth? Doesn't that taste horrible?

Oh, I'm guilty of having a couple of pieces of chocolate before going to bed. I'm trying to break myself of that habit. If you'd like a little something prior to bed, how about a piece of fruit ? Slice up some pears or apples and when you feel an urge, have some fruit. I've been trying to eat more nuts or sunflower seeds (protein) instead of the chocolate. I really should lay off, but like you some times I feel a little peckish.

Of course, your hunger might not be hunger. Have you tried having a BIG glass of water ? Some times hunger isn't really hunger, but a manifestation of thirst. So, depending on when your last drink of water was, you might just be a bit dehydrated in the evening.

I agree with Zorbs. You should NOT eat candy at bedtime simply because you will ruin your teeth.

Maybe you should establish a new bedtime habit that gives you the comfort and enjoyment of eating candy in bed but without the sugar and calories. How about buying some lavender essential oil and giving yourself a foot massage in bed every night?

It doesn't ALWAYS work but tell yourself...i already know what it tastes like I don't need it! Try to taste it in your mind, the texture, the flavor and then be done with it. Think of how proud of yourself you'll be by NOT having the candy. I love candy, not chocolate like most by gummi bears, sweedish fish and jelly beans. I feel your pain!

bed is for sleeping. And falling asleep with sugar still on your teeth is a fast road to cavities galore.

I am so used to getting in bed and eating candy, I really want some. I am trying to be strong and hold out but I am not sure if I can do it
