Thank you for your messages and encouragement. I suppose I do expect a little of the Biggest Loser results, haha. But, you're all right. I do have to be patient and just wait for my body to do whatever it has to do to get used to the healthier foods and the daily exercise. I almost feel like I shouldn't get on the scale for 2 weeks this time, just so I don't get discouraged again. In fact, maybe I'll just toss the darn thing! Lol!
I actually feel very good today. I've worked out daily this week and I'm trying to break some unhealthy habits I've had all my life, for example, having a glass of milk with something sweet before bedtime. So, maybe this all is helping my mood. I'll take it. I love this feeling!

You're doing just fine. Remember, this is NOT the Biggest Loser. Those types of weekly dramatic losses are just not typical. While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there may be weeks you don't lose. There may even be weeks when you gain. And that doesn't mean you're doing something wrong.

As others have already noted, you can't expect to see dramatic changes in so short a time. You didn't gain the weight overnight, it's not coming off overnight. You need to be patient with yourself and your body because there will be weeks when you don't see a change in the scale. Once again, that doesn't mean you're doing something wrong.

I blame the Biggest Loser for convincing people the weight magically drops off the minute they decide they need to lose. This is a misconception. Unless you can workout for 4-6 hours a day like they do on BL, change will take time. So, don't assume something is wrong because the weight isn't dropping off as fast as you'd like Weight loss really is a slow steady process that takes time.

However, I can assure you that if you continue to eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training, you will see change with time.

Patience, it's a virtue.

Hi JustMon,

Know that all changes within the body must begin at the cellular level...all the way down to the fat cells need to release the free fatty acids, to the muscle cells making bigger and more numerous mitochondria-these are the organelles within the cells-to give us energy.

It isn't uncommon to see a slight upward shift in weight when we start exercising, or add a new training regimen and eating better. For one the muscles are making more mitochondria which allow for extra glycogen-stored glucose in the cells- therefore, your body hangs on to more water to help with the cooling off process for exercise and for helping process energy. Your muscles will also have an increase in blood volume in order to have better availability to oxygen and removing waste, especially lactic acid. These things coupled with eating higher fiber foods, such as fruits and veggies can show a gain, when in all reality it is just a shift in fluids.

So don't get too obsessed with the is only one tool for measuring your success.

You are doing it right.
You are doing nothing wrong.
If you lost 2.6 pounds, the numbers on the scale MUST be going down.

It's always a little funny (I can't think of the right word) to me when I read posts of people thinking something is wrong if they are losing weight at a rate of only 1/2-1 lb/week. I have lost 38 pounds by losing an average of 1/2 pound a week. You just have to be patient! Losing 2.6 pounds in 3 weeks is a healthy rate to lose weight. You could lose weight at a faster rate if you only went over your calorie range 1-2 days a week (or less) instead of 4, if that's something you think you can commit to.

Basically, don't be sad!! You've obviously made progress in eating healthier, and beginning to work out as well. Losing weight is a process and it's not going to happen overnight, and it's not going to happen in a week. I look at it this way--I didn't gain 45 pounds overnight, so I'm not going to lose it overnight either!

Hello Everyone!
I'd like your opinion please. I've been eating better (Don't like the word "Diet") for about 3 weeks now and I've only lost 2.6 lbs. Am I doing this right? According to the food tracker, I'm going over my allowed calories about 4 days a week....weekends are so hard to keep track of. But I'm not eating any of the "bad stuff". I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I started working out last week. I DO feel my clothes fits me a tad better, but that dreaded number on the scale just doesn't go down! At this rate, I don't think I'm reaching my goal this year. =(
So sad.
