Success Strategies
(Choose and use whichever strategies fit your goals and situation the best.)

OPPORTUNITIES TO BE A MENTOR

Give a talk to a group about your area of expertise or interest.
Take "the new guy" to lunch.
Donate office space, in-kind services, frequent flyer points, tickets to events, toys, computers, office equipment, clothes, athletic equipment and school materials to mentoring agencies.
Invite someone to shadow you at your job for a day.
Lend professional expertise (legal, financial, public relations, graphic design, etc.) to mentoring programs.

OPPORTUNITIES TO FIND A MENTOR

Try to find a different mentor for each area of your life.

EFFECTIVE MENTORING TECHNIQUES

When tempted to give advice, act as a and advocate instead.
Live a good example. Your protégée is watching.
Make expectations clear up front. Set goals together, decide roles and frequency of contact, create specific follow-up plans.
Follow through. Keep your promises. Show up when you're supposed to and do what you say you'll do.
Publicly "talk up" your protégée to your peers.

DEVELOPING MENTOR-LIKE QUALITIES

Be interested in others.
Give feedback in a private, non-threatening way. If you have to criticize, give specific suggestions for improvement, or phrase it in the form of a question.
Take pride and be confident in your accomplishments and who you are.
Don't tell others to do what you wouldn't do yourself.

Chef Meg's Slow Cooker Vegetable Curry
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

Slow cookers aren’t just for meat! This is a tasty, affordable one-pot vegetarian meal that’s filling
and perfect for your slow cooker. You can also add shrimp during the last 20 minutes of cooking, if
you like. If the dish is a little too spicy for the kids, add 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt to their serving.
Serve with a glass of milk and a cucumber salad. Full Recipe
