I started to notice feeling a general lack of energy and being uncomfortable just sitting around, but the true reality check and turning point that made me decide I HAD to do this NOW was when my family was visiting me and I got into their van and was unable to buckle the seatbelt on one of the benches. I was totally mortified.
My life has changed massively since losing the weight. The types of activities I can get excited about are different. I never wanted to do anything outside before -- of course I'd get hot and sweaty and uncomfortable and feel even more fat because of it. Now I'm interested in the outdoors and nature. I also have gained a huge sense of empowerment by achieving a goal that I previously thought impossible to reach. You had to be lucky, rich, or extraordinarily strong and clever to lose weight and be thin I thought. WRONG WRONG WRONG. And by learning that, and learning through the process how to set goals for myself, I've gained the sense that I can do ANYTHING.
