I Worked Hard--No Shortcuts!
117 pounds lost
My wake-up call came at a children's birthday party, as I was sitting in a chair where your butt hangs off the back. I wondered what mine looked like and realized it was time to change. I said from that day on, there was no reason for me to be overweight. I didn't have any health issues that kept me from losing weight and I wasn't pregnant anymore.
I hit plateaus several times along the way, and I encountered saboteurs who tried to get me to eat everything I shouldn't and skip my workouts.
I just eventually had to stop getting frustrated and keep working. It took me three years, but I lost 117 pounds and have kept it off for more than two years.
I came to realize that I want to be a personal trainer and someday have my own business where I can help people to do what I have done!
I found support on the SparkPeople Message Boards. It's good to have people who are going through the same thing you are. It's more exciting to tell someone who is losing weight that you lost a pound than to tell someone who is not losing--they don't know the excitement in that one pound!
I worked hard and I didn't take the easy way out, and that keeps me going when I have bad days!
