I find that breaking down my BIG goals into smaller, bite-sized mini goals helps me keep going. Whether it's losing a large amount of weight or aiming to run a marathon, I can wrap my head around smaller goals (5 pounds, running a mile) that are steps towards the big ones.

I try to swim 3-4 times a week and do 40 lengths at a time without a break. After about 20 lengths I can feel myself flagging, but I break it down and find it helps me to keep going, I tell myself when I get to 20, that I only have 10 lengths left till my count down, then when I get to 30 lengths, I find I count down from 10 to get to my 40, this seems to go much quicker than counting upwards and on that final 1 length I really give it some welly!
