If you pay your bills online, you can receive your stsatements online too. Save some trees and elect this option rather than receiving 2 envelopes plus several pages of inked paper. Do the planet some good and reduce the amount of trash you generate.

I save all printer sized paper that is blank on the back. When I go to print out recipes or some other informal piece that only I will see, I put these in my printer's paper tray and print . Saves lots of paper and hopefully trees.
I ran out of business size envelopes. I pay my bills on line but all my Mom's bills (which I do) have to go out snail mail. I took the mail back envelopes from my bills and reused them on my Moms by placing a sticker over the address. Saved trees, too!
Instead of saving monthly paper bills in their respective envelopes, choose 1 envelope (large) and put all the bills in that one and recycle the rest of the paper. Label it with the month and the year, and only have one thing to file.
