For my birthday and Christmas, my mom always wants "ideas" of things I would like to have. I started keeping a list throughout the year. When I find something I would like but won't buy it for myself, I write it on the list. When the holidays come around and I still want the item, I have ideas.

When I moved, I had a ton of books that I really didn't need anymore, but still wanted new ones. I found a site- swap.com, where I can list the books I have and the books I want and it sets up a trade between members. All you do is pay for shipping. I like it a lot. I've gotten some things I really wanted, while getting rid of some books I no onger had interest in.
I was getting frustrated when something in my daily routine would get me off track from getting in all the steps I wanted for that day. I found that if I leave home earlier in the morning, take the long way around my block and walk past my bus stop I gain an extra 500 or so steps. If I make my connection to my next bus, I get off 1 stop sooner than my usual bus stop. Coming home at night I do the same thing in reverse.
My goal is to walk 12K steps per day instead of 10K!
