The last few years have been very stressful for me and it is very hard to shut down my mind at night enough to go to sleep. I started listening to audiobooks on CD when I went to bed. I listen to them and it keeps me from worrying about everything and I drift right off. It works better for me than a TV because it shuts off at the end of the CD and there is no change of volume when a commercial comes on or when a new program starts.
I get CD's from the library, so it doesn't cost me anything either!
I stopped reading. Well, not really. I've just changed the way I read books. I now listen to audiobooks on my iPod. You can download them free from your local library. Instead of sitting and reading the recent releases or some good old classics I listen to them. Only when I exercise. This means that if I want to know what happens next I have to get off my butt and move. You'd be amazed how fast the time flies when you're distracted by a good story. It's free and fun.
