I have arthritis and have had surgery on one knee and to help the pain I exercise even if it hurts because later the pain goes away and I feel better. I don't necessarily advise with all pain but for arthritis it helps a lot. A bicycle helps a lot and is less stressful

Oh my goodness! This sounds like me!! I have osteoarthritis in my right knee and have severe pain most days. Here is the funny part....you say that a bicycle helps a lot...I've joined a Spin Class on Tuesday and Thursdays and I can do the WHOLE 60 minute class without pain and with little pain afterwards (I usually ice my knee and take an Aleve if it's really bad) But I'm in MORE pain if I DON'T go spinning....weird!! Oh and I'm 5'4 and was 230 lbs when I started....down 15 lbs after 2 months. Good Luck to anyone thinking of trying a Spin class. It's really fun and don't worry...the soreness in your butt DOES go away eventually!! emoticon - by MICH316
