Tried but true--stop eating when you are full and only eat when you are hungry. Listen to your body to indicate when you are full and hungry. It is OK to stop in the middle of the meal if you are full--you don't have to belong to the clean plate club!
My best motivation to eat less is to wear a belt. I cinch it to where it is snug, but comfortable. When I am eating, the belt lets me know that I am full long before I realize it. I don't want to loosen it, so I stop eating.
