The single best tip I ever found was to change to a 9-inch plate with 1/4 of the plate with a protein, 1/4 of the plate with a carb, and 1/2 of the plate filled with vegetables. I found that I could still eat the same foods as my family. I didn't feel deprived and to my surprise I wasn't hungry.

I use a smaller plate when I am eating pasta, or anything that looks "small" on a dinner plate - I find I am satisfied with the serving size because it doesn't look so small after all!
