Remember when doing your grocery shopping to stay on the outer rim or isles of the store. There you will find fruits, vegetables, beans, spices, etc. All of the foods that are healthy for consumption. When you get into the inner isles is where the processed, unhealthy items are.

In the beginning when I started measuring & weighing all foods my plate looked totally empty. As a result I felt deprived. After the first few months of enthusiasm wore off measuring began to take on "heaping", Not to let my progress slip, I purchased (over time) smaller plates: 9" with a 1.5" rim for dinner, 6" with a 1" rim for lunch, & 4oz.cups for when I really needed a taste of ice cream, Also, changed to using smaller pots & pans so there's less temptation & leftovers.
