I often think of this quote from an Indian teacher: To identify with the body and yet seek happiness is like trying to cross a river on the back of an alligator. It helps me remember that I am more than my successes and failures with weight.
It actually also helps me eat less because I'm reminded that there are kinds of happiness other than eating.

I believe being negative is a strike against seeing the big picture: Negativity Clouds the truth. I can change. I can get fit. I can do one thing a day and that is in the direction of making the right choices for me to get well. Finally, refraining negative thoughts and judgements is a waste of time.
For example, when I get to complaining about this or that...I can say "oh my gosh, this situation gives me a chance to see what else I can do. Or when something does not turn out the way I want, I can say "oh my gosh, I get to survive without that thing and that is good. 334
