I have combined two stress reduction techniques - meditation and spirituality. Every night before I go to bed I listen to the day's installment of the Daily Audio Bible. (I set a goal of listening to the entire Bible in one year. So far, the streak is alive.) I follow that with Yoga Nidra meditation, leading me to sleep. It allows me to reflect on the day in positive terms, plan the next day, and sleep soundly.
I meditate in the evening. I always hated it when the timer went off and the jarring sensation it had on the meditation period. I had to turn the sound up loud because I am hard of hearing. Then I remembered that I usually have my cell phone on vibrate so I substituted the cell phone vibration to gently bring me back. Much calmer sensation!
