Collect up any gift cards in you house (ask your kids if they have any gift cards - teens are notorius for forgetting about them!) and check to see if there is any value left. You'll be surprised that you may have more $$ lying around than you think! Then use them to get things you need!

If you shop online a lot check out mypoints.com. You click thru their link to the store you want to shop from and you get points for the money you spend. Then you trade in the points for gift cards. I've used it for years and I have not spent a penny of my own money at Barnes and Noble in just about as long because I keep getting their gift cards and then using them to get more points.
If you have a credit card that gives you rewards such as gift cards for accumulated points, save them all up until December then cash them in. I have done this the last couple of years and gave the gift cards as presents or got them for myself then purchased Christmas presents at the store using the gift card.
The best thing about this is that no one will ever know!
