If seeds and nuts are roasted their flavour gets more distinct. Instead of buying them, roast them yourself. Just add them to a frying pan WITH NO FAT and carefully heat them, once they start to turn brown, remove pan from heat and put the seeds and nuts into an airtight container.
All in all this takes about 5 min. You can make a large batch and use whenever you like.
I love adding roasted sunflower and sesame seeds to salads and my morning cereal. They also add an interesting flavour to steamed rice.
