I save all my water bottles ( they now have a 5 cent deposit) and return them for change. When I get a bunch of change I turn it in at coinstar for amazon gift certificates. Which I then use for rewards for myself or gifts for some one who needs a lift.

It would be more environmentally helpful if you started re-using a water bottle... maybe you can use your next amazon card to buy one? Or use it to buy a filtered water pitcher(Brita, Pur)?

I but gift certificates for eating at different restaurants from restaurant.com when they have codes to make the already discounted certificates even cheaper
I've recently been using restaurant.com to get gift certificates to local restaurants. I can get a $25 gift certificate for $10. If you google restaurant.com coupon codes you can sometimes find codes that will get the gift certificates for as low as $2. They are restrictions, depending on the restaurant (i.e. can't be used for alcohol, valid certain days, no holidays, need to spend a certain amount, etc.). If you can be slightly flexible, it's worth it.
Get restuarant gift certificates online for less than half the cost!
I utilize restaurant.com, they usually have $25 gift certificates for sponsored restaurants for $10, it really works! I signed up for their emails and today I bought $100 in gift certificates for $10 as a special! No expiration dates either!
MORE INFORMATION:
There are usually some stipulations, like you can't use them on Fridays or Saturdays or you have to make a minimum purchase, usually $35-50. But there is no cost to join/no hidden fees!
