Don'T Swear Off "Bad" Foods

This Sparked Me!

No food should be called "bad". For example, I love ice cream (dessert) it's just that simple. Completely denying myself of it is a sure way to binge when I do get a taste. Be mindful of your eating habits, but squeeze in those treats you love! Moderation is key to a healthy diet NOT elimination.

I agree I find its too hard to do this and then you go and over indulge when you do get it . UNHEALTHY.

Yeah! I don't swear off anything. I'm stubborn. The surest way to get me to "disobey the rules of weight loss" is to tell me I *can't* have something. If I want it, I eat it. In moderation. I guess that's how it is with most of life, no?

This is absolutely a great idea. No food is bad. We should be working on the underlying issues that will help us make better decisions. Denying ourselves anything is not sensible "lifestyle change", that's just dieting.

Jibbie, I agree with you in that aspect because it all depends on your relationship with food; it is an individual choice that has a lot to do with self- control and will power. Of course, it is about finding what works for you.

Absolutely true, if you deny yourself totaly you will feel deprived. That is not any way to live. I allow myself anything I want but not the whole carton.

It may work for you, but it is like tella an ALCOHOLIC that they can have a drink "once an awhile." MOST of us really have to stay away from JUNK FOOD if we want to keep the weight off. Since 95% of people regain the weight, it is a REAL issue.
SUEAZZI 4/27/2010 11:03:00 AM

Absolutely! I love ice cream too! Moderation, Portion Control, Consistency... count calories... and you won't feel cheated.
SUZEQ09 4/27/2010 10:59:00 AM

You are so right! My dessert of choice is: ice cream too. I don't eat it everyday, but I do treat myself about once a month with some lowfat flavors.
