The Worry Jar
When I have a worry, I write it down and fold up the piece of paper. Then I drop it in my worry jar. Two to three weeks later I read my worries and many of them I laugh at. I can say 253 to those worries. It makes me feel so much better.
Often all the stress and worries of the day seem to flood my mind when I am trying to get to sleep. I have found that if I jot down these worries on a pad, I can more easily relax and go to sleep. When I wake, I am more able to make decisions on how to best solve those problems.
In the words of Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind," (paraphrased) " I am just not going to worry about that today. I will worry about that tomorrow."
When you can't let go of nagging worries, set your timer and give yourself 5 or 10 minutes to worry. Sit and concentrate on worrying. When the timer goes off, you have taken care of worrying about that subject.
