I find that to really maintain a positive outlook I must have multiple measures I can look to for encouragement. I cannot simply look at progress on the scale, I have to have an entire list of indicators of my ongoing progress. My list includes the scale, but it also includes how my clothes fit, my energy level, my body measurements, etc. To succeed I have to be aware of all the changes I am getting through my lifestyle change!!
Keep adding to a list of surprising changes as you lose weight. E.g. bending is easier, thighs stop chafing, rings fit on fingers, shoes are more comfortable, etc. The growing list is a great motivator. Even if you hit a plateau you have a record of changes to keep you feeling positive.

I made a big list of everything I cook that my family likes. I also made a list of side dishes. These lists are made up of recipes I know or can get my hands on easily. This way, when I am uninspired, I just look at my list and pop into the store on the way home. Also, when I come across a new recipe that is quick, easy and enjoyed by the whole family, it goes on the list.
