I like to sprinkle a few fresh chopped onions into many of my recipes. To save time, I cut up a whole onion and put the unused portion into a small container and put it in the refrigerator. When I need a little onion the next day, it's ready and so am I.

Since I can't use salt, I carmellize onions to get a sweet flavor to my dinners. Just get a little fluid in the pan, I use juice from canned mushrooms. Then turn it up to 8 on the cooker, get it sizzling, and put the diced onions in, and let it go. When the onions start to brown, turn down the heat, and add any meat or other veggies, and when you eat, you will taste a sugary flavor. That's the natural sugar in the onions being released!
I tried Mrs. Dash, and many othe salt substitutes. they suck. This adds flavor, while still being healthy.
Try homeade bean paste on white corn tortillas! They're healthy and nutritious. You can add your own veggies (like peppers) and spices (like cayanne)! Just fill up a pan (half way or so, depending on serving of beans) and add the beans. cook for 4 hours, until really soft and mushy. and then mash until you get a paste. You can buy white corn tortillas already prepared.
To add flavor, consider adding bacon bits (or bacon alternatives), salsa, or even onion.
The calories in onions are very low at about 40 calories for a medium onion, they are included in all types of weight loss diets & onions have the effect of lowering glucose levels in the body, by increasing the amount of free insulin. Trace minerals such as chromium increase the tolerance to glucose, & lower insulin levels. Grilled cheese & sauteed Onions are delicious. Try Onion Soup, cucmber and onion salad, a low calorie dip with tomatoes & jalapenos, in cottage cheese w/ parsley.
