Not All Bulk Purchases Are Wise.

Bulk purchases make a lot of sense in some situations, but it's easy to assume that buying in bulk is always cheaper. It's not. Do some comparison shopping, calculating the $ per ounce. If something is on sale, it will usually be cheaper than bulk, as bulk rarely goes on sale.

MORE INFORMATION:
However, my favorite snack of all time, Fiber One bars, are a great deal at Sam's Club, at about $7.50 for 20 bars. This is much cheaper than the normal grocery stores, even when there is a sale.

Yes, and consider whether you want to trip over 50 pounds of whatever-it-is for a year of more if it's not something you use a lot of, or if your storage space isn't unlimited. My husband learned this one the hard way! :o)

LOL on the trip over comment. The other thing is that perishables, will perish. If you can't consume it all, and throw stuff out, you aren't saving.

many times you can purchase 2 or more smaller packages to equal the economy size and it works out to be less money than the "economy" or "family size" I find it best to look and decide if the bigger size is worth the savings or any savings at all

I agree that some are better than buying in bulk. Toilet paper for instance is cheaper to buy in 4 pack than the bigger one. I always compare prices. Yeast is cheaper to buy in the jar rather than the packets.
