My husband loves eating out - but was pushing 300 pounds. He was having problems due to his weight - so he started selecting the one or two lowest calorie foods at each fast food - and eats only those items at each.
Although it wasn't his goal, it forced him to slowly learn about nutrition too!

I lost my first 55 pounds at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. The last 27 pounds I lost at .5 pounds per week. It all adds up. There are benefits to losing slowly. Your skin is more elastic. You get to eat more and can meet more of your nutritional needs. Won't be as hungry. Slow works, too!
For my husband's health we had to cut down on salt. I've lost almost 30 pounds in the last seven months. Cutting out foods that had high sodium also meant healthier choices, too (e.g. no fast food or frozen dinners), so that helped in the weight loss also.
