Cheddar and other aged cheeses are naturally lactose free. This is because the whey has been removed and the whey is where the sugar and lactose are. I visited Cabot creamery in Vermont and that is where I discovered this little secret. Mac and cheese, Broccoli and cheese grilled cheese Here I come

Love Cabot's, and their low fat Cheddar isn't bad either! Didn't know about it being lactose free either.

The only carb in chese is lactose. All hard Cheese is lactose free or just about free! All cheese is low carb. Just watch the sodium. Horizon Organic String Cheese, Cabot 50% reduced Fat cheddar and they have other varities. Sargento Reduced sodium mozzarella. Traders Joes Sliced Lite Provolone is good too!
Parmigian Cheese is the best digestible protein. Our digestive tract digests it within 45 minutes of eating. It is lactose free and has many minerals & vitamins. The white specs in the cheese are clusters of amino acids. It is a medium fat cheese and so easy to digest that it is given to babies and it is prescribed for children with gastro-intestinal problems.
Yogurt is easier to digest than regular milk, so if you're lactose intolerant but you want some calcium and protein, give it a try! Also, if you like milk but hate the tummy aches (and hate soy milk), try lactose-free milk. It's sweeter, tastes similar. I actually like it better (and no tummy aches)
