Water Chestnuts are fat free and have No cholesterol
Water Chestnuts are crisp and low in calories but are a great source of fiber to lower cholesterol. Add to salads, into a tuna salad or chicken salad, fruit salad or quarter into Brown Rice with chopped onions to reduce fat content of meals. They are free of any cholesterol and are almost fat-free and contain potassium. Make a stir-fry with them. 1/2 cup of water chestnuts contains only 0.1 g fat.
We eat a different version of fruit salad every week. I make a big batch on Sundays then we eat throughout the week (usually done by Thursday). It is a nice treat and healthy that always stays interesting. I also end up trying new fruit on a regular basis so that is something that adds some spark to my salad!301
