My garage used to suffer from 'box-itis". We had boxes stacked 4-5 tall and two layers deep. Marking the boxes helped, but I finally bit the bullet and bought six of the rolling storage racks (6' tall x 6' wide). We also purchased those big, clear tubs to hold what was needed. Now it's no problem
getting to anything. If it's N the back, just roll a unit out of the way 2 get what you need. Make sure U store the heaviest items on the bottom shelves & the lighter ones on top. Don't climb on the racks. Husbands & boy-friends are designed to get stuff off the top shelves, utilize all your tools!

The Garage~KEEP IT CLEAN!~~By using Incentives!!!!!~~Part One
I'm trying something new this year in keeping my craft area[in the garage and-- the WHOLE garage-- ,for that matter!] that I used in successfully losing the weight on my wt. loss journey~incentives!!! This year it took 7 hours to organize the garage instead of two days like last year! And so to PRESERVE my PRECIOUS TIME with my FAMILY instead of cleaning the garage, I decided to do some incentives to KEEP IT CLEAN! The incentives start at 1 week, then 2wks,then 3 wks, a month, two months...
and each month thereafter. Each incentive is designed to benefit the whole family[granted some are FOOD,but it is the process--1st wk incentive - is making homemade ice cream together,2nd wk incentive- is get the jacuzzi up & running again, others include camping, biking, and going snowtubing again...
The GARAGE~Keep it Clean ~BY using INCENTIVES~Part Two!
The other part of keeping the garage CLEAN & ORGANIZED for me is TO KEEP REMINDING MYSELF DAILY of the HARD WORK I put into it with a daily reminder sheet~ I have a mini bulletin board near my craft area.I have a paper that says DAY-- 1 [for example] =KEEP IT CLEAN! with a small check-off box near it & the date -Jan.13,2011 [for example].Then ,as I go in & out of the garage,I SEE THAT REMINDER and at the END of the day, I CHECK OFF THE BOX and put a new sheet up. [I copied a week of "Keep It
CLEAN"papers at a time --so I ONLY FOCUS on a week at a time in the beginning...then later a month at a time. There is SOMETHING about CHECKING OFF THAT BOX that I kept the garage clean FOR THAT DAY that MOTIVATES ME to KEEP IT CLEAN! So far,it's working~check my pg.for photos to show concept!
Keeping your life organized helps you stay on track w/ other things like exercise & eating healthy. Organize a room in your house or a cluttered garage. By doing this, you'll get a nice workout without realizing it & also get some things done around your house which will make you feel accomplished!
