Set Money Aside

This Sparked Me!

I set at least $20 per paycheck away as an emergency fund. This is cash that we cannot use until an actual emergency arises, such as a hospital bill, loss of pay, etc. Otherwise, it is there to be saved. It adds up quicker than you would think!

We do something similar to this. I've learned to pay us first. Then it's bills. Then it's whatever. We've pulled ourselves out of some pretty hefty jams doing it this way.

It's also good to have cash around in case of a natural disaster.
