To lose weight, multiply your present weight by 11 and subtract 500 calories from the total. This is how many calories you can have each day to lose 1 pound per week. Recalculate every Saturday at weigh-in.

MORE INFORMATION:
Use a spreadsheet to keep track of your daily calories. Plan which meal will be your "big" meal of the day and budget accordingly.

    Don't forget that you also need to put into consideration how many calories you burn exercising. Then the total calories you can eat looks more realistic.

    I did the math and this puts me too far below the minimum recommended daily amount of 1200 calories. Losing weight is not worth getting sick; I'd rather go slow.
