If you store in a plastic bag or container, adding a dry paper towel helps vegetable produce last a lot longer. I add one to all of my cut up veggies and bags of lettuce

I remember a Tupperware rep telling me to wrap my lettuce in a damp paper towel or even fabric kitchen towel after I removed the core, then store it in their tupperware container (of course) to last longer. It actually does work. I no longer store it in the container, but I do wrap the lettuce head in a damp towel and throw in a large zip lock.

I always do this. when we use strawberries I wash them as i am about to use them.I take the hulls out last and put them in a bowl with a paper towel to absorb any moisture. The moisture keeps them fresh till they are actually served at the table.

Great idea! My husband did this not too long after his mom died and it really does work! emoticon emoticon
