I use my debit card for EVERYTHING so I started rounding up my purchases in my register. If I spent $23.05 on gas, then I put it in my checkbook as $24. Also, when I deposit money, I always put like $10 less in. This way there is always money floating in my account and I am less likely to overdraft.

I don't carry my checkbook with me much of the time and I use my debit card for purchases. I got an extra check register and record all debit card purchases, or withdrawals from the ATM, in this. When I get home I set down and record all the transactions so I don't have to keep track of all the receipts. This has made balancing my checkbook a snap.
I track what I eat before I eat it so I know where I'm at with calories. That way if I want a little extra, I can see if I've got the calories for it before I give in and eat it. It's like balancing a checkbook.
The secret to slim down and stay rich is to successfully write down everything you eat like you spend. I use Sparkpeople.com or Sparksavings.com to track everything. If I'm away from the computer, I have a food journal and balance my checkbook the old fashion way.
