I agree with this totally! I'm a "numbers" person, but you don't have to be one to do this. I'm so organized with my finances due to my spreadsheet and I've convinced my sister and some friends to do the same. You know where your money is going and where you went wrong, in order to prevent it in the future!

I made a budget on a spreadsheet to track all of my expenses and revenues. The formulas show all transactions on the account and show the bottom dollar at the end of each month. Once I see how much I can have left if I don't spend, it encourages me to only spend what I need. I can see months later how much I will have if I stay on track.243
If you're having trouble creating or sticking to a budget, it can help to pick one "problem area" and track every penny you spend in this single category. For example, track the money you spend on dining out and see if that helps you reduce the amount of money you spend in this category.
