This was the toughest thing to do for me. So many hidden calories were in what I was not writing down. And I was wondering why I was not losing weight.

I'm still working on this. The hardest part is figuring out how to account for homemade things and eating away from home. I have an idea my "guesses" are underestimates!

duh? right? I don't track everything because I am not always near my computer, but I could jot it down and enter later! Why or why didn't I think of that Besides, if I don't even want to write it down, then I probably shouldn't be eating it!!
Thanks!

Still in the learning stage of this; but am trying to track everything; and recently successfully talked myself out of stopping at a fast food restaurant because of knowing I would have to write it down later. I adds some accountability to my actions. Still trying to learn how to calculate homemade things; so much of what I eat is not in the food lists. But I make my best guess, and figure that something is better than nothing.

It is amazing how being committed to writing down whatever passes your lips can actually change what goes in! Even if I have told myself that I have no restrictions, I find myself making different choices at times because I do not want to admit on paper that I ate/drank that much or that often. What crazy games we play with ourselves! I appreciate the calculations that SparkPeople do to help me keep track of my intake!

I added the app on my iPhone- so any "i" products can be used, I am not positive if other cell companies/phone models have the option, but it's worth looking in to!
One way to help avoid being discouraged when you slide off course a bit, is to write yourself a healthy lifestyle resume! What skills have you developed (making a well developed workout routine, making solid meal plans, etc), what are some of your past successes (lost 15 lbs, ran a 5k, motivated a friend to exercise), and what new skills do you hope to develop. Even if you aren't quite on track, you are still developing the skills that you need to get there!
