If you want to make sure Fitness is a Habit, start small with something you know you can do. Start walking or walking stairs at your office (I did this) for 10 minutes 3x a week. Make the habit first--even say it out loud to others--once you have the routine then add minutes or intensity!
Lots of good info is available online about the importance of starting small to create a routine, including 25 Ways to Make Exercise Routine at http://www.thirdage.com/cholesterol/25-ways-to-make-exercise-routine
Sometimes a computer or internet is readily available. Create your routine and print out a checklist. Once printed laminate the paper to keep it fresh looking. Now you can use an erasable marker to check off your exercises during the day to add later. Great for when your on the go!
Hang this on the frig, keep one in your car, wherever you need to keep tracking easy.
Don't be afraid to use each and every day, each and every meal, as a time to get back on track. If you blew it at lunch, eat a lighter dinner. If you didn't eat breakfast, have a filling snack as soon as possible. Didn't make the gym today? What's stopping you from walking or doing chores?
